Mandate

The Global Reef Project’s mandate is to create a standardized biogeochemical data set to enhance understanding of coral reef ecosystems. The overarching aim of the Global Reef Project is for a purposeful, manageable, and unique research expedition focused on sound coral reef ecosystem science.

Goals

1. Develop a comprehensive, robust, reproducible, and quality-controlled data set for coral reefs across a number of scientific disciplines
Produce a coral reef data set that is of value to the scientific community
Develop methods to expand data collection opportunities beyond the scope of the Global Reef Project

2. Work with collaborators and partners
Work with our partners to develop appropriate protocols
Continuously improve and refine the data collection process
Identify a multi-national agency to coordinate the science
The Global Reef Project is a scientific effort focused on collection of biogeochemical data from coral reefs and open-water ecosystems. It aims to develop a comprehensive, system-wide, and quality-controlled set of protocols for data sampling in collaboration with the scientific community.
